Privacy Policy for TNPSC Progress Tracker

TNPSC Progress Tracker ("the app") is developed to help candidates preparing for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) exams track their syllabus completion and study progress. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

The app offers two ways to use it:

  • Guest mode: You can use the app without providing any personal information such as your name or email. The app creates an anonymous account to securely store your syllabus progress in our cloud database. This anonymous account is not linked to your identity in any way.
  • Google Sign-In (optional): You can optionally link your anonymous account to your Google account at any time (during onboarding or later from Settings). If you do, we collect your Google account email address, which lets you back up your progress and access it again if you reinstall the app or switch devices.

Regardless of whether you've linked a Google account, the app stores the following data associated with your account:

  • Your syllabus completion progress (percentage complete for each topic/unit you mark)
  • Your study plan details (start date and target exam date per track)
  • An activity log of when you started or completed topics, used to show your study history and streak
  • Your app preferences (language/medium and light/dark theme settings)

We do not collect your name, phone number, physical address, payment information, or any government ID numbers.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used solely to:

  • Provide the core functionality of the app — tracking and displaying your syllabus progress
  • Sync your progress across devices when you sign in with Google
  • Send optional local study reminder notifications (these are scheduled entirely on your device and do not require sending data to us)

We do not use your data for advertising, and the app does not display third-party ads.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your account data (progress, study plans, activity log) is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your data is restricted to your own account — no other user can view your progress.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is not shared with any third party except:

  • Google, for the purpose of authenticating your sign-in (per Google's own privacy policy)
  • Supabase, our database infrastructure provider, which stores your data on our behalf under a data processing agreement

5. Your Choices

  • You can use the app entirely in guest mode without ever providing any personal information.
  • If you have signed in with Google, you can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below.
  • You can disable local study reminder notifications at any time from the app's Settings or your device's notification settings.

6. Children's Privacy

This app is intended for TNPSC exam candidates, who are adults preparing for government recruitment exams. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
